| A certificate from any one of the Technical Institutes in Guyana or Critchlow Labour College or Institute of Distance and Continuing Education or Adult Education. |
| Three (3) passes at the GCE "A" Level (at least grade C) or the CAPE (at least grade III), one of which must be Biology |
| An Ordinary Diploma in Science (Biology Option) with a pass with credit from a Government Technical Institute; |
| A minimum of five (5) subjects of CSEC General Proficiency (at least Grade III) or IGCSE/GCE 'O' level (at least Grade C). These subject offerings must include, English Language, Mathematics, Biology (or Human & Social Biology) and one (1) other science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as science subjects); |
| A Diploma in Agriculture (achieved with Credit or above) from the Guyana School of Agriculture; |
| A Diploma or Associate degree from the University of Guyana; |
| An Ordinary Diploma in Science (Biology Option) with a pass, in addition to a minimum of three (3) passes at CSEC (or equivalent), which must include Mathematics and a Science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as Science subjects in FNS); |
| A Trained Teacher's Certificate with a specialization in Science and a minimum of three (3) passes at CSEC or equivalent which must include Mathematics and a Science subject. (Note: Agricultural Science and Food & Nutrition are not accepted as science subjects in FNS); |
| Mature applicant (21 years and over) who has evidence of adequate exposure to Biology and/or Integrated Science, together with a pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE); |
| Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above. |
