Entry Requirements


Criterion Description
7201- Criterion 1 At least five (5) subjects at CSEC General Proficiency (Grades I, II, or III) or GCE "O" Level (Grades A, B, or C). Subjects must include English Language, Mathematics and CSEC Information Technology. Students without CSEC Information Technology (IT) or CSEC Electronic Document Preparation and Management (EDPM) will be admitted but MUST register for, and pass UGC1101- Computer Literacy 1.
7201- Criterion 2 A Diploma in Computer Science or an Associate of Science in Computer Science or Associate Science in Information Technology or Associate of Science in Information Systems.
7201- Criterion 3 A Trained Teachers' Certificate (Secondary Mathematics Option).
7201- Criterion 4 Certificate in Industrial and Social Studies from Critchlow Labour College (CLC) together with a pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE).
7201- Criterion 5 Ordinary Diploma in Computer Science (ODCS); pass with Credit at the GTEE level.
7201- Criterion 6 Ordinary Diploma in Science (ODS); pass with Credit at the GTEE level.
7201- Criterion 7 Mature age (26 years and over), sound education background, together with a Pass at the University of Guyana Entrance Examination (UGEE).
7201- Criterion 8 Any qualification considered by the University to be equivalent to any of the above.
7206 -Criterion 09 Any qualification considered by the University of Guyana to be equivalent to any of the above.

CSE1101 Discrete Mathematics for Computer Science 4 This course is the same as MTH 1105. Students with the Associate of Science IT (7102) progressing to the new degree (7201) in Computer Science must do this course, CSE 2100 and CSE 2200.
CSE1100 Introduction to Computing I 4
UGC1101 Computer Literacy I 4 This course MUST be done by students who do not possess CSEC Pass in either Information Technology or Electronic Document Preparation and Management.

CSE2100 Data Structures and Analysis of Algorithms 4 Students must pass CSE 1201-Introduction to Programing before attempting CSE 2100- Data Structures and Analysis of Algorithms. Students with the Associate of Science IT (7102) progressing to the new degree (7201) in Computer Science must do this course, CSE 1101 and CSE 2200.
ELE1212 Electronic Fundamentals 3 This course must be done along with ELE 1212L. Once these two are done, there is no need to choose the elective in semester II.

CSE2202 Human Computer Interaction I 4 Students with the Diploma (0715) in Computer Science progressing to the new degree (7201) in Computer Science must do this course and CSE 2200.
