Mr. Shawn Jagnandan is an enthusiastic, compassionate, self-motivated, and professional lecturer who joined the University of Guyana in 2012. He is currently a mathematics lecturer within the Department of Mathematics, Physics & Statistics, Faculty of Natural Sciences, with more than 10 years of experience in teaching and research. He has a proven track record of working collaboratively with his students and colleagues towards achieving set goals.

Mr. Jagnandan holds a Trained Teacher’s Certificate, an Associate Degree in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics, and a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership in Education.

Mr. Jagnandan’s academic background and research experiences have provided him with a strong foundation for publishing scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals on a variety of research fields and interests, such as:

  • Mathematics Education, encompassing research and peer-reviewed publications on various topics, including error analysis, mathematical readiness, academic achievement, emotional intelligence, technology-enhanced instructional approaches, the impact of manipulatives on academic performance, and instructional strategies that influence situational interest in learning.

  • Educational Leadership, where he published papers in refereed journals on the need for leadership in advancing transformations in education.

  • Physics, in the field of experimental high-energy heavy ion collisions, where he has published research papers in various reputable journals.

  • Engineering, with research outputs and publications in the disciplines of mechanical and civil engineering on computational fluid dynamics analysis of fume extraction systems, computational fluid dynamics analysis of fluid application, and technical and economic analysis of producing electricity utilising gasification systems.
